	Karen Duvall, Author of Adventure and Suspense
	I was born in Hollywood, California, grew up in Hilo, Hawaii, lived most of my adult life in Colorado, and now I'm in Bend, Oregon. Love, love, love it here! Oregon is the best. I'm here with my husband and four incredibly pampered pets: one dog and three cats, all of whom get along with each other better than my kids ever did. Speaking of kids, I have three of them and they're all grown up and living on their own now. I also have two grandsons and another grandchild on the way. I've always been a writer, and I've always been a visual artist, too. When I was a kid, I'd write stories then draw the pictures to go with them. I'm schooled in graphic design, have my degree in advertising design from the Colorado Institute of Art, and I run my own graphic design business. There's quite a bit of crossover between my design and my writing as I've designed both covers for my published books, and I frequently write copy for my design clients. Both skills work off each other nicely, and the variety keeps me from ever being bored while guaranteeing that I'm always busy. I'm a member of Romance Writers of America and Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers (RMFW), a professional organization for writers of novel-length fiction. One of my greatest joys is judging the annual Colorado Gold novel-writing contest. I sometimes facilitate writing workshops for local writers' groups and I own and moderate a 350-plus member Yahoo Group for paranormal mystery writers.
